Then another drilling machine comes in and carves a "bell" shape at the bottom of the hole, so the pier will have a bell shaped bottom. Then the cement trucks fill up the holes up to about two feet below the grade surface so that when the foundation beam forms are dug they will be sitting on top of the piers.
